What Type of Guards to Choose for Sparring and Training? 

Get strap-on Velcro shin guards with thick foam padding if you do heavy sparring in kickboxing or Muay Thai. They stay secure and won’t slip during intense sessions. Choose slip-on sock-style guards only for light drills or beginner training since they offer less protection but more mobility. Look for guards that cover from just below your knee to the top of your ankle, and ensure they fit snugly without cutting off circulation or twisting during movement.
